citadel youth hostel

October 8th, 2011 by sophie · accommodation, israel

we stayed at the hostel for four nights and really enjoyed it. its built in arcades and could probably get painful for tall people now and then… you can stay in private rooms, dorms or take the chance to spent your stay sleeping at the roof of the hostel with a great view over the old town of jerusalem. its nearby the jaffa gate, a great location to explore the old town by foot. if you like to work for your stay and plan to be in jerusalem for more than two weeks, you can volunteer at the hostel.

the food in jerusalem is very expensive, so its kind of a gift that there is a kitchen the guests could use. its kind of clean and not that well equipped, but if you just want to cook some pasta for saving some money, it’s working out.

shkedi camplodge

October 7th, 2011 by sophie · accommodation, israel

i have spent a lot of nights in different hostels, none of them was like this camplodge. we felt extremely comfortable, save and relaxed. the location is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but going there is definitely worth it. you can come alone, as a couple or in groups. there are big tents like dorms you can stay in or you can rent one of the double cabins, which are just great, air conditioned and homy. the athmosphere is relaxing, there is music playing the whole day, you got a bar and free wifi. the bathrooms are big and clean, the kitchen is well equipped and the people are friendly and likeable.

loveat is a tel aviv based coffee chain which doesn’t feel like one. the good english speaking staff serves you a big range of coffee specialities and pastry, everything is organic. you can have your coffee with a cigarette outside or enjoy the shade inside. its a clean and flowing atmosphere, no stress but you are also not waiting long to get your caffeine. so, either you are looking for a place to hang out with a book or just to get a good coffee for take away, you should check out loveat. and for me personal, the best of all was, that they have soy milk as well.
